I recently returned from Ladakh, a place where silence feels sacred and the mountains hold stories older than time. One moment that stayed with me was the deep maroon of the monks’ robes — a colour that’s lived in my heart for years, calm and grounding, yet powerful in its quiet presence.

Inspired by their serene way of life and the graceful simplicity of their clothing, I created Alchi Maroon — my own soft, feminine interpretation of that peaceful energy. I’ve never seen a female monk, and I don’t even know if they exist. But I imagined one. And this outfit is for her — for the part of her that lives in me, and maybe in you too.

The kurta features a gently scooped U-neckline, detailed with delicate potli buttons, full-length sleeves that feel like an embrace, and soft gathers at the front that move with grace. It has side slits for ease and elegance, and a relaxed fit that allows the body to just be.

The fabric is cotton crush — breathable, natural, and with a texture that feels alive. Both the kurta and matching pants are crafted from it, designed to flow together like a quiet prayer.

I’ve named this piece Alchi Maroon, after the Alchi Monastery I visited — a sanctuary of art, colour, and quiet in the heart of Ladakh.
